Job Description

Upstream Solutions Inc are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Construction Engineer to support the Wellhead Platform (WHP) Project Team.

This position is responsible for supporting project scopes related to the construction of the WHP Concrete Gravity Structure (CGS). This position is responsible for coordinating with the WHP Engineering Contractor, the CGS Contractor, and the WHP Project Team in support of CGS construction scopes throughout all Phases of the WHP Project. In this position you will provide support to the CGS Lead in managing the construction aspects of CGS design and the execution of the CGS construction.
  • Utilize and apply the Project Delivery Model (PDM) processes throughout the completion of the WHP Project.
  • Assist the CGS Lead by reviewing and approving design, engineering, and proposal deliverables related to CGS construction throughout the various Project phases
  • Support the CGS Lead as required, to coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support the CGS Lead through coordinating with WHP Project Contractors as required on CGS construction scopes and interface with other WHP systems.
  • Assist in providing liaison between WHP Project Contractors and Argentia Management Authority (AMA)
  • Actively participate in construction reviews to achieve design and construction schedule and cost efficiency
  • Take a leadership role in innovative solutions for project development and lessons learned
  • Provide assistance where necessary in the provision of information for the EA submission to CEAA
  • Review technical and commercial documents for ITB Packages
  • Prepare and contribute to presentation materials to illustrate and communicate work progress and results
  • Liaise with the Graving Dock design and construction work
  • Liaise closely with Project Planner/Estimator
  • Contribute to weekly progress reports for internal Husky and monthly reporting to Management, Partner(s), and Regulatory Authorities
i. Required
  • Bachelors Degree Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Member in good standing, or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)
  • Minimum 10 years experience participating in engineering and heavy civil construction projects for the oil and gas industry
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the engineering and construction of concrete gravity substructures for offshore platforms
  • Experience working with large Engineering and Construction Contractors
  • Demonstrable knowledge of fixed and floating offshore oil & gas, including operations, and familiar with all aspects of multi disciplined projects involving engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning requirements
  • Strong understanding of the interaction of project drivers, specifically technical, economical, schedule and commercial
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with teams of engineering staff and contractors as well as with others outside the formal organization
  • Knowledge of offshore industry standards and procedures for structural design of offshore platforms
ii. Asset
  • Knowledge of all project design and execution stages
  • Knowledge and understanding of Regulatory and C-NLOPB Regulatory requirements
  • Previous experience in the Environmental Assessment process, both with the Province and CEAA
  • Proven contractor management/interface experience working with a Client’s Project Team
  • Overall engineering knowledge for the various aspects involved in a Wellhead Platform facility
