Job Description

Upstream Solutions Inc (USI) is currently seeking applications for the position of Rig Construction Advisor in connection with the development of the Hebron Project, one of Newfoundland and Labrador's premier Oil and Gas Projects.

Job Description:
  • Provide operational and drilling construction to PMT during detail design development, construction and commissioning of drilling components of Hebron Platform
  • Primary interface between Topsides (RDS) design team, O&M Contractor and Drilling Operations team
  • Ensure the DES and DSM is fit for purpose (e.g., equipment sizing/rating, laydown area, storage)
  • Participate in procurement package evaluations
  • Review and respond to spec deviation requests
  • Review drawings and specifications
  • Address human factors engineering as well as safety of personnel and equipment (in conjunction with RDS and/or O&M contractor)
  • Assist in development and review of commissioning and System Integration Test procedures
  • Support construction and commissioning efforts as required
Skills:
  • Demonstrated regard for Health, Safety, Security, Ethics and Environmental issues in the workplace
  • Extensive knowlwdge in Drilling policies, procedures and operational requirements
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize and progress own work schedule
  • Experience working within multi-disciplined team environment involving multiple stakeholders
  • Familiar with applicable industry related codes (API, ASME, ANSI, SAE, ASTM, ABS, DNV, SOLAS, IMO)
  • Knowledge of Canada-Newfoundland Labrador offshore Oil and Gas regulations (CNLOPB)
  • Experience in reviewing drawings and schematics (PFDs, P&IDs, E&I system review)
  • Willing to relocate to multiple work sites (Houston / St. John's) based on Project schedule and need
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Fluent in English
Experience:
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Civil) REQUIRED
  • 15 years minimum related experience required
  • Experience in Drilling, Completion, Intervention and construction activities in an offshore environment
  • Experience in Drilling Rig development including FEED, Detail Design, Construction and Commissioning
  • Strong preference for experience in an Integrated Platform Environment
  • Background in Drilling, Completions, and Workover operations for extended reach and horizontal wellbores
  • Knowledge of Sand Control technology an asset, specifically any experience with gravel packing applications
  • Experience and familiarity with Platform Drilling Rig systems specifically in North Atlantic harsh weather environments
Based on local regulations (Atlantic Accord) first consideration will be given to qualified Newfoundland and Labrador residents (those currently residing in province).  Those outside the province, wishing to repatriate, will be considered a strong second in priority.
